No need to reserve 25% Covid doses for pvt sector: Govt to vaccine manufacturers
India TodayAvailability of Covid-19 vaccines for states is likely to increase with the central government clarifying that it has asked vaccine manufacturers to do away with mandatorily reserving 25 per cent of their doses for the private sector. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday told the Rajya Sabha that the government has spoken to the vaccine manufacturers and asked them to provide the private sector only those number of doses for which it has placed order, instead of reserving 25 per cent of the total doses manufactured by them. However, the government had allowed vaccine manufacturers to reserve 25 per cent of their doses for the private sector. BJP MP Sushil Modi had asked the government whether it was planning to bring down the 25 per cent reservation for the private sector in the wake of non-utilisation of vaccine doses by private hospitals.
