Police launch probe into alleged gold theft

The Kochi City police have launched a probe into an incident in which 70 sovereigns of gold worth around ₹45 lakh were reportedly stolen from the house of a senior KSEB engineer along Deshabhimani Road in Kaloor. Forensic experts, fingerprint experts, and the police dog squad examined the house on Saturday. Reportedly, the house has remained locked since March 2024 as the owner stayed in Thrissur with his wife and children outside the State. According to the police, the theft occurred on Friday after 12:30 a.m. by two unidentified persons who entered the compound by scaling the wall.
