Moscow Olympic gold medallist hockey player Ravinder Pal Singh succumbs to COVID-19

Former Indian hockey player and member of the 1980 Moscow Olympics winning side Ravinderpal Singh passed away at a Lucknow hospital early on Saturday. Kaushik a speedy recovery A two time Olympian – he was also part of the 1984 LA Olympics – the Sitapur-born Singh was only 20 when he became an Olympic gold medallist at Moscow, the last Olympic medal for Indian hockey. The last time he was seen in public was at a function some months back organised by RP Singh, another of hockey stalwarts from UP and the current state sports director. On field, it was his speed and interception and off it, his ability to avoid people that made Ravinder Pal Singh unique.
