China President Xi Jinping reappears on state TV amid rumours over 'absence' | Video
India TodayChinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday, September 27, reappeared on state TV when he visited an exhibition of the Communist Party. This was his first appearance in public life after his return from the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Samarkand on September 16, which sparked rumours about his absence from public events ahead of next month's key Congress of the ruling party. "The Party and the State have made historic achievements and undergone historic changes, providing a more perfect system, a more solid material foundation and more active spiritual power to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," he said. Refuting the rumours and speculation, the CPC on Sunday announced that all delegates totalling nearly 2,300 were "elected" for the Congress under the guidelines set by Xi Jinping. A total of 2,296 delegates were "elected" to attend the upcoming 20th National Congress of the CPC to be held on October 16, the party said in a statement.
