'People voted for PM Modi's charisma, not degree': Ajit Pawar
Hindustan TimesSenior Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar has credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's charisma for the BJP's victory in 2014 and said inflation and jobs for youth are more important issues in the country than the PM's academic degree. Pawar's comments were at variance from ally Shiv Sena, whose leader Sanjay Raut had said PM Modi should come forward to inform about his academic qualification and that his degree should be displayed at the entrance of the Parliament building. Asked about the Opposition raising the issue of the PM's educational qualification, Pawar on Monday told reporters, “In 2014, did people vote for him by looking at his degree? Notably, the Gujarat High Court last week set aside an order of the Central Information Commission asking the Gujarat University to provide information on PM Modi's degree to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
