Bushfire warning downgraded for suburban area in Dunsborough, in WA's South West

A bushfire which threatened homes in the Western Australian town of Dunsborough has been downgraded from emergency level to an advice alert. Department of Fire and Emergency Services Incident Controller Matt Muir said the Dunsborough town site escaped significant damage, with only perimeter fences scorched. City of Busselton Mayor Phill Cronin, who is also a volunteer firefighter, said fire crews came from across the surrounding areas to help. Fire 'a challenge for ground crews' Thick smoke could earlier be seen billowing from the area, with multiple fire crews at the scene including firefighting aircraft. Mr Muir said fire crews were "mopping up" and maintaining containment lines around the fire.
