12-year-old apprehended in connection with infant’s death at Pappinissery

The police have apprehended a 12-year-old girl in connection with the death of a four-month-old infant, whose body was found in a well at Parakkal, Pappinissery, on Monday night. Hearing the parents’ cries, migrant workers staying on the upper floor joined the search and found the baby in a well near the kitchen of the quarters. District Police Chief Nithin Raj said the 12-year-old initially claimed innocence but later confessed to the crime during questioning. Valappattanam Station House Officer B. Karthik, who is investigating the case, said she admitted to throwing the baby into the well, fearing she would lose the love and support of her uncle and aunt.
