Iowa OC Brian Ferentz’s contract changes include $50,000 pay cut, points-per-game target

New York Times

Iowa offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz received a $50,000 pay cut and a designated performance objective to average at least 25 points per game while the program wins at least seven games, athletics director Gary Barta announced Monday. After one year with the program, every Iowa football assistant is on a two-year rolling agreement, but Brian Ferentz’s deal now is halted on June 30, 2024. According to the contract amendment, if designated performance objectives are met, Brian Ferentz’s deal will return to the prior two-year rolling agreement terms, along with a one-time lump sum bonus and base salary adjustment. Considering Kirk Ferentz is the nation’s longest-tenured coach, ranks third all-time in Big Ten victories and has a contract through 2029, the athletics department had little leverage to nudging Brian Ferentz away from the program.
