Mumbai Doctor Seeks Ban on Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Kabir Singh’

The Quint

After being called out for promoting toxic masculinity and misogyny by several critics, Shahid Kapoor’s latest release Kabir Singh is now facing the heat from members of the medical community. According to reports, Dr Pradeep Gadge, a Mumbai-based diabetologist has filed a complaint against the makers of Kabir Singh for showing doctors in a bad light. Taking offence to this kind of a negative portrayal, the doctor has reportedly written a letter to the Union Health Minister, Information and Broadcasting Ministry, State Health Ministry, and the Central Board of Film Certification asking them to stop the screening of Kabir Singh. Dr Gadge believes that given the recent instances of violence against doctors, the representation of doctors in Kabir Singh is “yet another assault on the fraternity’s image”.
