Former Australian soldier Joel Stremski killed while serving with foreign unit of Ukraine's Armed Forces
ABCA second Australian member of a foreigners military unit in Ukraine known as "The Chosen Company" has been killed while fighting against invading Russian forces in the country's east. Sources have confirmed to the ABC that Victorian man Joel Benjamin Stremski died "heroically" in October while holding off Russian troops, in the same month an artillery strike killed former Townsville-based soldier Matthew Jepson. A figure connected to "The Chosen Company" told the ABC that New Zealand's honorary consul based in Kyiv had been helping injured Australian members of the military unit, including hospital visits, and arranging medical transfers.
