Correct year of I&A certificate must for EWS quota: Telangana HC
Deccan ChronicleHyderabad: The Telangana High Court clarified that candidates seeking reservations under the Economically Weaker Section category must ensure they submit the income and asset certificates issued by competent authorities for the correct financial year. The Court ruled that an I&A certificate from a different financial year than the one specified in the employment notification cannot be used to claim EWS reservations. The 2022 employment notification explicitly stated that eligible candidates seeking EWS quota must submit an I&A certificate for the financial year 2021-22. The Court made it clear that the I&A certificate for the correct financial year is critical to a candidate’s eligibility for EWS reservations and stated that submitting a certificate from a different financial year undermines this eligibility.
