Three held on charge of cheating former judge of ₹90 lakh

Kochi City police have arrested three youths as part of the probe into the case in which a former judge of the Kerala High Court was allegedly cheated of ₹90 lakh by online fraudsters by promising him huge returns by way of online share marketing. The Hill Palace police had registered a case based on a complaint lodged by M. Sasidharan Nambiar, former jurist, on December 30, 2024. The police said the accused had allegedly withdrawn the money deposited in their accounts from ATM kiosks and reportedly converted the cash into bitcoins and transferred it to the other accused in the case. He was reportedly promised a profit of 850%, based on which he made the payments from various bank accounts through immediate payment service and real-time gross settlement between December 4 and December 30.
