The stage has been set for the world famous jallikattu event to be held at Alanganallur in Madurai district on January 16. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin will flag off the event, the last of the major jallikattu events held during the Pongal season in Madurai district. Residents and visitors enthusiastically clicked pictures and selfies in front of the ‘vaadivasal’ and the arrangements made for the event. A large posse of police personnel have been deployed at the jallikattu venue to ensure the smooth conduct of the event and to manage the huge crowd who are expected to start pouring into the galleries as early as 5 a.m. Fire and Rescue Services personnel, medical teams and ambulances would also be stationed at the jallikattu venue.
