Einstein's gravity theory could be wrong as new theory passes first test

But a new theory rewrites theories of gravity, claiming dark matter does not exist Dark matter particles have been searched for but have never been found So scientists have speculated that an invisible 'dark matter' exists to fill the gaps Einstein's theory of gravity cannot account for everything in our universe A theory published earlier this year claims our understanding of gravity, that was first proposed by Einstein, could be completely wrong. Now an independent study of more than 30,000 galaxies found evidence to back the theory THE BIZARRE THEORY Professor Erik Verlinde from the University of Amsterdam claims dark matter does not exist. A theory published earlier this year claims our understanding of gravity, that was first proposed by Einstein, could be completely wrong The outer regions of galaxies, like our own Milky Way, rotate much faster around the centre than can be accounted for by the quantity of ordinary matter like stars, planets and interstellar gasses The researchers used 'gravitational lensing' - a visual effect in which the galaxies closer to Earth bend the light emitting from more distant ones, a well-established way of of measuring a galaxy's mass. If it passes more tests it could dethrone over 100 years of physics, and even throw out the theory of dark matter altogether The team made predictions about the galaxies using both Einstein's classic theory of relativity and Verlinde's hypothesis of gravity.
