T.N. BJP to represent to Centre the demands of farmers in Coimbatore district on laying of gas pipeline

A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party, Tamil Nadu, will meet the Union Petroleum Minister shortly and seek laying of gas pipelines along the road in the State, said the State president of the party K. Annamalai in Coimbatore on Sunday. Mr. Annamalai told the media that farmers protesting near Sulur in Coimbatore district against plan to take pipelines across agricultural lands for the Irugur-Devangonthi Pipeline project had a reason. A team from BJP Tamil Nadu will appeal to the Union government to consider the demands of the farmers and lay the pipelines along the road, he said. On tungsten mining, he said the Central government took the views of the State government in February this year and called for bids only after that.
