Could Brock Bowers become latest tight end to thrive in Sean Payton’s scheme?
New York TimesINDIANAPOLIS — Brock Bowers, the tight end out of the University of Georgia who is the unquestioned top prospect at his position in this year’s NFL Draft class, kept it simple Thursday when asked to describe his formal meeting this week with the Denver Broncos. If Bowers is up to speed on the history Broncos head coach Sean Payton has had with tight ends, he may have been underselling how eager he’d be to play in the coach’s scheme. “Everybody knew exactly what they had to do.” Given his experience, it’s safe to say Payton is eager to find more answers at tight end after his group with the Broncos last season produced fewer receptions and receiving yards than any other team in the NFL. The Broncos haven’t outlined in any detail their free-agency or draft plans, but tight end is a clear priority given how big of a void Denver had at the position last season.
