MSMEs seek measures in Union budget to simplify GST system
A simplified GST system that provides MSMEs with ease of doing business is one of the main demands from the Union budget from the industries in Coimbatore region. M. Karthikeyan, president of the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association, said there were several issues in GST. According to the South India Hosiery Manufacturers Association president A.C. Eswaran, “GST taxation rules should be common.” Further, GST collection for freight vehicles should be regularised so that the industries do not pay penalty if the GST was not paid for the vehicles. J. James, president of the Tamil Nadu Association of Cottage and Tiny Enterprises, said the micro units that did job work for vendors in the engineering sector should be charged only 5 % GST.
