24 JNTUA students suspended for ragging freshers

ANANTAPUR: Some twenty-four senior students were suspended for the first time in the history of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University here in connection with ragging at the Lepakshi hostel at JNTUA campus. Of the 24, seven students were suspended for one semester, six senior students for four weeks and 11 others for two weeks from the college and a hostel. JNTUA vice-chancellor Ranga Janardhan took a serious note of the ragging culture in the prestigious institute and directed the college authorities to take strong action. College authorities said this was the first time ragging took place in the engineering college hostel on university premises.
