Lucy Edwards, 28, was diagnosed with incontinentia pigmenti at the tender age of 11 before she eventually lost her sight at 17-years-old For a year she spent hidden away in her bedroom at the age of 19, struggling to come to terms with the grief for her sight The rare genetic condition particularly affects the skin but can also impact other bodily systems including the eyes - sometimes resulting in vision loss. Bravely sharing the moment, she knew she was losing her vision Lucy revealed she was sitting next to her now-husband Ollie There are sometimes rare moments she feels melancholy for her younger self, and becomes sad when she no longer remembers what her husband looks like But despite adversity, Lucy has remained positive and develop a two million strong following on TikTok as well as write her own novel 'Blind Not Broken' 'I turned to look at him and said Ollie you are glowing. She has continued to introduce not only her own family but the world to a different way of experiencing life through her wedding that went viral Lucy set the wedding date for August 31, 2023, and, in 2022, she decided she didn't want her friends and family to see her walking down the aisle so they all remained blindfolded @lucyedwards So this is the moment that I blindfolded all my guests, and I walked down the aisle on my #wedding day… Myself and Ollie thought it would be a really good idea to blindfold him as well, as when I got to the end, and my dad passed my hand to Ollie he was able to feel my wedding dress in the exact way that I felt it when I first had it on.
