He said that the State government did not even bother to mention offshore mining in the meeting convened by the Chief Minister to discuss the issues to be raised in the Parliament session. “They were not ready to pass a resolution in the Assembly,” said Mr. Venugopal who added that if the LDF government does not see much importance in an issue which affects the sea and the fishermen alike, they should be ready to say it openly. “The Left government in Kerala should learn from the interventions made by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in Tamil Nadu when they cancelled the permission given by the Central government for tungsten mining near Madurai,” he said.
