GIS-based master plans to be drawn up for Ariyalur, Manapparai, Thuraiyur and other towns in central region

The Directorate of Town and Country Planning would soon prepare GIS-based master plans for Ariyalur, Perambalur, Manapparai, Thuraiyur and various other towns in the central districts. GIS-based master plans are also to be prepared Ariyalur, Perambalur, Jayamkondam, Sirkali, Poompuhar, Vedaranyam, Koothanallur, Thiruthuraipoondi, Aranthangi, Keeranur, Kulithalai, and Kagithapuram in the region. The master plans would include key strategies and recommendations for each sector, zoning of land use for residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, recreational, educational, and other purposes together with zoning regulations through land suitability analysis. It would also include infrastructure/service demand forecasting; proposals on environmental management and climate change adaptation, including delineation of environmentally/socially sensitive zones and special regulations for such areas; utility plans, mobility improvements, infrastructure upgrades; urban design guidelines and disaster management, tourism and waterfront development; solid waste management and heritage conservation plans.
