Prashant Kishor wants veterans axed; Congress responds with a committee full of them
India TodayWhen poll strategist Prashant Kishor submitted a detailed report to the Congress on how the party can aim at organisational revival and better results in elections, one of the top points in his prescription was that all leaders above the age of 70 step aside. Former Union finance and home minister P. Chidambaram said senior leaders should step back and the Congress Working Committee, the highest decision-making body of the party, should be reconstituted to include more young leaders. The committee has already submitted its report and Sonia Gandhi has now formed another internal group—the empowered action group 2024—to address the political challenges that the Congress faces. While the new empowered group is about to take charge to analyse the challenges of the 2024 Lok Sabha election, the Congress already has a regular 10-member Group to Look into Future Challenges.
