Former senior national political advisor expelled from CPC, public office

Li Weiwei, a former senior national political advisor, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China and dismissed from public office for serious violations of disciplines and laws, the country's top anti-corruption authorities said on Friday. Li, former deputy head of the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment with the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, had failed to implement the central leadership's policies regarding CPPCC affairs and united front work, according to an investigation led by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision. She had been working in Hunan for a long time, serving in various important positions, including director of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade's branch in Hunan, head of the provincial united front work department and head of the commission for political and legal affairs of the CPC Hunan provincial committee. In March 2023, she served as deputy head of the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment under the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC in March 2023.
