Man gets link for donation and charity on WhatsApp, loses over Rs 1 lakh after clicking on it

A 31-year-old man from Karnataka has reportedly fallen victim to a new scam where scammers reached out to him through a WhatsApp link. According to a report, the victim lost Rs 1.11 lakh after clicking on a WhatsApp link that claimed to support charitable causes. In his FIR, the victim revealed that he received a WhatsApp link promoting donations for medical aid, education funds, and wheelchair donations. In this case, the app masqueraded as an investment app where users could earn Rs 2,000 per day by watching 40 videos, with the accumulated funds credited to their app-linked wallet. However, when Varun tried to withdraw the money to his personal bank account, he was asked to deposit an additional Rs 56,000 via UPI on the app.
