Will Sean Turnell's jail term in Myanmar force Australia into action on a country at war with its own people?

ABC

Children caught in the conflict. Australian economist Sean Turnell has been sentenced to three years in a Myanmar jail for violating the country's official state secrets act. The People's Defence Force has emerged as the main armed wing of the National Unity Government, using force to support the goal of ending military rule. "The Australian Government has consistently rejected the charges against Professor Turnell during the more than 19 months he had been unjustly detained by the Myanmar military regime. The escalation in the military's violent tactics must surely be cause for Australia to renew its efforts to help displaced people, support the pro-democratic forces and secure Sean's release.
