Rethinking American Citizenship: Why America Needs Doctrine Of Basic Structure

Since the recent second win of Donald Trump as the President of the United States of America, his reasons to be in the news are more than just a few. Birthright citizenship is a constitutional guarantee under the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution of the United States which says that any individual born within the territorial boundaries of the United States automatically acquires American citizenship. But nothing in the Constitution grants the President, federal agencies, or anyone else authority to impose conditions on the grant of citizenship to individuals born in the United States. Can Birthright Citizenship Be Changed In America The Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution, which expressly declares that all individuals born or naturalized in the United States and within its jurisdiction are citizens, is the foundation of birthright citizenship in the US. Frequent debates taking place in the U.S., like birthright citizenship that is in peril through executive orders and the plans for constitutional changes, may show how weak basic principles could be due to political expediency.
