CBSE plans two level exams for Science, Social Science in Classes 9 and 10
The Central Board of Secondary Education is planning to introduce a two-level structure for Science and Social Science in Classes 9 and 10, following the model already in place for Class 10 Mathematics. Following the introduction of two levels for Class 10 Mathematics—Standard and Basic—CBSE aims to offer Science and Social Science at two levels starting from the 2026-27 academic session. These updates align with the goals of the National Education Policy 2020, which emphasises reducing student stress and discouraging reliance on coaching by offering subjects at multiple levels of difficulty. This initiative underscores CBSE's commitment to aligning with NEP 2020’s vision of flexible, student-centred education, paving the way for a more adaptive and inclusive learning environment.
