Krishna board wants TS, AP to talk it out

The Krishna River Management Board has suggested that the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments sort out the dispute arising out power generation in the Srisailam Left Bank power project among themselves amicably. In a letter written to the Telangana government, Member-Secretary of KRMB R.K. Gupta asked the State to abide by the October 9 decision of the board in which it was decided that drinking water and irrigation needs would be given priority in the utilisation of water in the Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar reservoirs. They pointed out that the AP Government did not heed the Godavari River Management Board suggestion in the matter of power generated at the Lower Sileru hydro-electric station. The AP government had then argued at the board meeting that the issues related to power generation would not come under the purview of the river board and it was purely meant to deal with sharing of river waters.
