Feyenoord out of UEFA Cup

Rotterdam soccer club Feyenoord has been thrown out of the rest of this season’s UEFA Cup competition following last November’s crowd trouble in Nancy, France after a direct appeal by UEFA. Then Feyenoord was fined €125,000 and ordered to play two matches behind closed doors – if there was any more trouble within three years. Feyenoord has now been ‘excluded from all UEFA competitions for the season 2006/07, including the current UEFA Cup in which the club had progressed from the group stage to face England’s Tottenham Hotspur in the round of 32,’ UEFA said in a statement. Feyenoord was also ordered to contact AS Nancy about paying damages following last year’s incidents.
