
Governor’s intervention sought against University Laws Amendment Bill
The HinduThe Save University Campaign Committee has complained to the Governor against the proposed amendments to the University Laws that were tabled in the Assembly on Monday. Against private varsities Meanwhile, pro-Congress university employees and college teachers, led by the Federation of University Employees Organisations, and Kerala Private College Teachers Association, staged a protest march to the Assembly against the Private Universities Bill. They alleged that nearly 40% of seats in the State’s public universities remain vacant, with many prominent colleges facing a shortage of students. Federation State president N. Mahesh; general secretary Jayan C. Chalil; and KPCTA State president Premachandran Keezhoth and general secretary Rony George were among those who spoke. AISF march Communist Party of India -feeder All India Students Federation also took out a march to the Assembly in protest against the proposed legislation to permit private universities in the state.
