Colombia Supreme Court sends Uribe case to attorney general

Al Jazeera

Alvaro Uribe is under investigation for alleged witness tampering and is currently under house arrest. Colombia’s Supreme Court on Tuesday said it will transfer its case against former President Alvaro Uribe to the attorney general’s office, making this announcement shortly after he resigned from the Senate. Uribe, who stepped down from his Senate post two weeks ago, is under investigation for alleged witness tampering and is currently under house arrest. The court agreed with Uribe’s team, saying it is transferring the case to the attorney general “because it relates to an investigation which is unrelated to his role as a congressman” in a statement posted to its Twitter account. Uribe’s house arrest is the first time the Supreme Court has ordered the detention of a former president.
