In 2019, the Athletics Federation of India hired Klaus as a biomechanical expert and went onto become Neeraj’s coach the same year, after Neeraj had recovered from an elbow surgery. Star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra on Wednesday penned an emotional post for his coach Klaus Bartonietz, who is retiring to spend time with his family in Germany. In 2019, the Athletics Federation of India hired Klaus as a biomechanical expert but became Neeraj’s coach the same year. Klaus played a crucial role in helping Neeraj develop his game, as the Haryana athlete won gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and a silver at the Paris Olympics earlier this year.
