Dongying city moves on path to Chinese-style modernization
China DailyRelying on its abundant natural resources, solid industrial foundations and beautiful ecosystem and environment, the city of Dongying – located in East China's Shandong province – is stepping up its high-quality development and is striving to build itself into a highly modernized and strong metropolis. Dongying, located at the mouth of the Yellow River and home to the Shengli Oilfield, has been designated as a nationally civilized city, a national hygiene city, a national ecological garden city and it's also been listed in the first batch of international wetland cities globally. It's home to the national-level Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone, the Dongying Comprehensive Bonded Zone and seven provincial-level economic development zones, or high-tech zones – with a resident population of about 2.21 million people. The 1,530-square-kilometer Yellow River Delta national nature reserve in Dongying is widely said to have the most complete wetlands ecosystem in China's warm temperate zone, which is currently being developed into the Yellow River Estuary National Park.
