In their letter, the lawmakers implored the England team and ECB officials to speak out against the Taliban’s oppressive policies that have severely restricted women’s rights, including bans on education, employment, and sports. Speaking on the issue, ECB Chief Executive Richard Gould reiterated the board’s condemnation of the Taliban’s policies while emphasising the need for a unified stance within the International Cricket Council. “The ECB strongly condemns the treatment of women and girls in Afghanistan under the Taliban regime.The ICC Constitution mandates all member nations to commit to the growth and development of women’s cricket.
