Reserve Bank cuts interest rates for the first time since November 2020
ABCThe Reserve Bank of Australia has cut interest rates for the first time since November 2020. RBA governor Michele Bullock noted that the rise in interest rates from the "emergency lows" of the pandemic had meant households with home loans were hurting, but argued high inflation caused more pain. At the post-meeting press conference, Ms Bullock said she couldn't confirm if the central bank was "one and done" when it came to rate cuts. "What I would say is that the market is expecting quite a few more interest rate cuts — to the middle of next year, about three more on top of this," she said.
