Dharwad: Emphasizing the crucial role of agricultural universities, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah called for intensified research in developing dryland agriculture. Expressing special concern for dryland farmers, the Chief Minister called for research into enhanced varieties tailored for dry farming. The Chief Minister also suggested that in cases where a major crop suffers damage, scientists should promptly explore alternatives. Siddaramaiah projected that, encompassing the costs of the five guarantees, the budget for the next fiscal year is anticipated to hover around Rs 380 lakh crore.
