Police hint Tamil Nadu varsity sexual assault FIR leak caused by tech glitch

In a press meet, Chennai Police Commissioner A Arun provided updates on the ongoing investigation into the sexual assault case at Anna University. Arun clarified that the FIR was written exactly as per the victim's statement, emphasising that the police cannot alter it. Addressing allegations by BJP leader Annamalai about the leaking of the FIR, Arun explained that technical glitches during the transition from IPC to BNS delayed the FIR’s automatic locking, possibly allowing the leak. He also revealed that the accused had been involved in 20 prior cases related to theft and property crimes, but none related to sexual assault.
