An upshot of this is the ever-growing number of cafés—from new-age places such as Subko Coffee to chains like Starbucks and Third Wave Coffee Roasters and more—serving traditional filter coffee, especially to a younger audience. Karreena Bulchandani, of Mumbai’s Mokai café, says that the ratio of non-milk alternatives has been climbing steadily and currently stands around 30%—meaning three out of 10 consumers prefer coffee beverages with alternative milk options.
