Federal seat of Pearce 'in play' after outer suburbs voters turn against WA Labor

ABC

The federal seat of Pearce is "in play" in the looming election, according to experts, after the Liberals gained some of its biggest swings in Perth's outer suburbs in WA's poll. Outer suburban swing John Curtin Institute of Public Policy executive director Professor John Phillimore said trends in Perth's outer suburbs were clearly reflected in WA's poll. "Clearly Labor won't be happy about those large swings they suffered in those outer suburbs, including in the seat of Pearce but they would not be surprised because clearly cost of living and interest rates are a big issue," he said. In terms of who can pick up the federal seat, Professor Phillimore said that's "the big question".
