JNU elections: ABVP gives tough competition to Left Unity
India TodayJawaharlal Nehru University Students Union polls were conducted today, on September 06, 2019 where the fate of 14 candidates who were contesting the election was on stake. Student groups contesting elections The Left-backed All India Students' Association, Students Federation of India, Democratic Students Federation and All India Students Federation are contesting together under the umbrella of Left Unity. ABVP's presidential candidate Manish Jangid took a dig at the Left unity students' union and said they could not even get themselves notified. While the campaigning and debates in the run-up to elections in JNU have been focused around national and international issues such as article 370, Kashmir and even Amazon fire, when it comes to the poll day it finally boils down to an extremely polarized campus divided between left and right sides of national politics.
