Zomato addresses woman’s ‘unfair’ container fee issue on Twitter

A woman in Ahmedabad ordered three plates of theplas priced at ₹60 each from a restaurant through Zomato. “Container charge is equivalent to the item that I have ordered ₹60 for the container charge Seriously?” tweeted Khushboo Thakkar tagging Zomato. Take a look at the bill shared by Twitter user Khushboo Thakkar below: Zomato responded to the woman’s tweet and explained, “Hi Khushboo, while taxes are universal and vary from 5 percent to 18 percent depending on the type of food. Packaging charges are levied by our restaurant partners, they are the ones who implement and earn from this practice.” To this, Thakkar replied and wrote, “I find the ₹60 container charge excessive and unfair.
