Omicron scare: Delhi to send all Covid +ve samples for genome sequencing; change in home isolation norms likely

With the national capital logging 107 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, its highest daily rise in nearly six months, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has appealed to the Centre to roll out booster doses. Following a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority on the Omicron variant of coronavirus, it has been decided that samples of all Covid-positive patients will be sent for genome sequencing henceforth. The chief minister will chair a meeting on December 23 to take stock of the Covid-19 situation in Delhi and strengthen home isolation norms accordingly.
