FM urged to allocate substantial financial support to Bengaluru's proposed projects in Union Budget

BENGALURU: Bengaluru in-charge and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Saturday sought substantial financial support from the Union Government to the State Government proposed infrastructure projects of Bengaluru city and asked Union Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitaraman to allocate substantial financial support in ensuing Union Budget to projects such as urban road tunneling among others. The State Government proposed about 18.5 km road tunneling from North to South corridor from near Hebbal to Silk Board junction near HSR Layout which is estimated to cost Rs 15,000 crore. Shivakumar brought to the notice of the Finance Minister that the State Government will provide Rs 19,000 crore for the road tunneling project while draft Detailed Project Report is in public domain to gather public views on road tunneling projects proposed by the State Government. Shivakumar said the flyovers would cost Rs 12,000 crore and exuded confidence that the flyovers would address major traffic issues of Bengaluru city.
