Trump To Attend Black Journalists Convention In Chicago Amid Backlash
Huff PostLOADING ERROR LOADING Former President Donald Trump is expected to appear at the National Association of Black Journalists Convention in Chicago on Wednesday, despite protests from many of the Black journalists attending. “To the journalists interviewing Trump, I wish them the best of luck.” Sports writer Carron Phillips, who said he is attending the convention, called Trump’s scheduled appearance “the single dumbest and worst decision in NABJ history.” “Whoever made this call is an idiot,” Phillips wrote on X. !” NABJ President Ken Lemon said in a statement that interviewing Trump will give Black journalists the “opportunity for them to ask the tough questions that will provide the truthful answers Black Americans want and need to know.” The Trump campaign praised the former president’s supposed accomplishments for Black Americans under his term. “President Trump accomplished more for Black Americans than any other president in recent history by implementing America First policies on the economy, immigration, energy, law and order, and foreign policy,” the statement said.
