Expert tips for air conditioner use in summer for maximum efficiency
During the hottest part of a summer day, many Australians close the windows and blinds and reach for the air conditioner remote. Technology has revolutionised air conditioning systems, but TAFE NSW air conditioning and refrigeration teacher Mark Sharp said people did not run them as efficiently as they could. "Air conditioning used to be the old noisy window rattler that would use a lot of electricity," he said. Forget about instant cold Mr Sharp said one of the most common mistakes involved people treating their home like their car, where they want instant cold air blowing on them. If you do not have air conditioning — or only have it in living areas — Mr Sharp said ceiling fans could still be an effective option.
