Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote to Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jadgeep Dhankar, saying the suspension of Opposition MPs from Parliament was “predetermined and premeditated”. Referring to TMC Rajya Sabha MP Saket Gokhale’s post on X, but not naming anyone, Kharge said that the Chairperson would have been made aware about “a Union Minister” allegedly informing “an Opposition MP” that most Opposition MPs would be suspended before Home Minister Amit Shah would be present in the Rajya Sabha. Saket Gokhale had alleged in his post on X that Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal had threatened that all Opposition MPs would be suspended before Union Home Minister Amit Shah tables the criminal law Bills in Rajya Sabha.
