Security officials intercept 3.9 lakh Yaba tablets worth ₹78 crore in Tripura
The HinduIn a joint operation conducted in Tripura, security officials intercepted and recovered a consignment of 3.9 lakh Yaba tablets, a common name for a pharmaceutical drug with methamphetamine and caffeine, from the general area Gandacharra, just outside of Teliamura town on Friday night. Officials said that the operation was conducted by the Assam Rifles, the Customs Department and the Tripura Police jointly, which also led to the apprehension of 33-year-old Melaghar-based Rakesh Miya, who was allegedly transporting the consignment that security officials have said is approximately valued at ₹78 crore in the international market. In a statement issued by the Assam Rifles, officials said further investigation was under way to “dismantle the network behind this consignment”. This monumental success highlights the unwavering commitment of the security forces to counter the menace of cross-border drug trafficking and safeguard the youth of the region,” the statement by Assam Rifles added.
