Australians will be treated to a 'Strawberry Moon' TONIGHT
Daily MailJust weeks after Australians were treated to the rare sight of a super blood moon and lunar eclipse, they will be able to view a June 'Strawberry Moon' in the skies tonight. Strawberry is the name Native Americans gave the summer full moon because it was the time strawberries and other berries began to ripen in the fields. The Strawberry Moon will be the last 'supermoon' of the year in Australia The moon will be at its fullest and brightest very early Friday morning but also be visible on Thursday evening, weather permitting While the Strawberry Moon - the last supermoon of the year - will be visible in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane this evening, it will not be at its fullest and brightest until 4.39am on Friday morning. Should the Strawberry Moon be covered in cloud in Australia, lunar lovers can stream coverage of the spectacle at The Virtual Telescope Project from Rome at 5am AEST on Friday, June 25.
