Bihar’s first sports university gets UGC recognition

The University Grants Commission has granted recognition to Bihar’s first sports university, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on National Sports Day in 2024 at Rajgir in Nalanda district. “The Bihar Sports University, Rajgir, has gotten recognition from the UGC under section 2 of the UGC Act’ 1956. Along with the university, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had also inaugurated the State’s first sports academy last year. Retired IAS officer Shishir Sinha, a 1982 batch officer of the Bihar cadre, was appointed as the first Vice Chancellor of the Bihar Sports University in November 2024 by the State government.
