Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp still confident in coach Dan Campbell, GM Brad Holmes after 1-5 start

New York Times

Detroit Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp addressed the budding frustration with the team’s season to date while reaffirming her belief in coach Dan Campbell and GM Brad Holmes on Wednesday. And I truly believe that and I wouldn’t say that if I didn’t believe it.” The Lions hired Campbell and Holmes in January 2021, with Holmes getting a five-year deal and Campbell signing on for six years. But I do know that she’s all in, and I know that she believes in what Brad and I are doing.” Hamp took over as the team’s owner in June 2020, giving the previous regime one more season to turn things around before ultimately parting ways with Matt Patricia and Bob Quinn and hiring Campbell and Holmes. When asked what’s different about this rebuild compared to the many others that haven’t led to success — and why other franchises with relatively new coaches are further along than the Lions — Hamp, again, backed Holmes and Campbell while preaching patience.
